In February 2021, SOSS company changed its name from (Statistical Office for the Social Sciences) to SOSS Organization (Statistics Organization for Society Support) to be as a non-governmental organization. SOSS is a unique local organization in Iraq especially Kurdistan Region with the aim of conducting statistical surveys in the field of humanitarian aids of IDPs, refugees, and vulnerable groups, as well as statistical consultancy, solving market research problems, socio-economic impact analysis, preparing project feasibility studies, data entering and analyses, conducting different types of academic courses, and creating databases.

A group of academic experts, with PhD and MSc degrees in Statistics, Economics, Programming, Linguistics, and Administration, established the company in 2010 (now National NGO). SOSS was established to fill a service-provision need in the “new Iraq” that was previously non-existent. Therefore, SOSS is committed to building the new developed country via the provision of international-standard statistical and market research services.

SOSS’s main objective is to provide accurate and reliable information about all segments of Iraq’s society for economic, commercial, social, agricultural, political, and financial purposes. Essentially our purpose is to raise the sustainable livelihood of people by addressing solutions of the major issues and supporting them improving and developing of their skills and experiences as much as possible. This is only possible through the development and improvement of research technologies, together with other organization interaction and our commitment to provide them with high-quality services.

Iraq is extremely significant globally due to its natural resources, political and security situation in the Middle East.  As a result, relevant and current information and research are required by local and international organizations and businesses in order to enhance society and serve them.

During 2011, SOSS covered most Iraqi provinces and established effective teams in each of them. SOSS now has more than 100 interviewers in 20 teams ALL OVER IRAQ. Each staff member has the minimum requirement of a diploma degree, with expertise in the following software programs for data analysis: Mobile Data Collection (MDC), SPSS, STATGRAPHICS, STATA, S-PLUS, XLSTAT, and MATLAB.
